about enearth
At EnEarth, our vision is to support hard to abate industry to achieve net zero targets, reducing the carbon footprint of the Southeast Europe and create a new low carbon hub in Northern Greece
EnEarth is Energean’s carbon storage business, dedicated to accelerating industrial decarbonisation across the Mediterranean region. We develop permanent geological CO₂ storage solutions by transforming depleted oil and gas reservoirs into safe, secure and long-term carbon storage sites, creating the infrastructure needed to support a low-carbon future.
By investing in innovative technology and infrastructure, repurposing existing installations and applying decades of subsurface expertise, EnEarth supports the carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain through CO₂ transportation, handling, and permanent geological storage. Our solutions help hard-to-abate industries reduce emissions while promoting sustainable economic growth and environmental responsibility.
Our flagship project, the Prinos CO₂ Storage Project in Northern Greece, demonstrates this vision in action. By converting a mature offshore oil field into a state-of-the-art CO₂ storage facility, Prinos will be capable of safely storing millions of tonnes of captured CO₂ each year. The project will play a key role in supporting industrial decarbonisation, strengthening regional energy infrastructure and establishing Greece as a leading hub for carbon storage in Southeast Europe.
EnEarth transforms legacy oil & gas assets into sustainable green hubs that drive regional decarbonisation. By converting depleted fields into secure CO₂ storage and repurposing existing platforms, pipelines, and facilities, it accelerates the shift to a climate‑neutral economy while avoiding the cost and impact of new infrastructure.
These hubs become green industrial clusters, offering CO₂ capture, transport, and storage, hosting DAC and other negative‑emission technologies, and attracting industries seeking low‑carbon solutions. They support hard‑to‑abate sectors such as cement, steel, refineries, chemicals, power, shipping, and future BECCS/DAC operators across Southern Europe.
EnEarth also builds a Mediterranean CO₂ transport and storage network, partnering with regional emitters and integrating with the EU’s emerging carbon backbone, positioning Prinos as a strategic East Med climate hub.
The mission delivers measurable climate impact—permanent CO₂ storage, emissions reduction, and support for EU targets—while creating economic and social value through skilled jobs, regional revitalisation, investment, and community engagement.
EnEarth aims to lead South Europe’s shift to a low‑carbon economy by delivering scalable, safe CO₂ storage and driving innovation across the carbon value chain. Its vision is to make the region a global reference for climate‑positive industrial transformation through the region’s first certified CO₂ storage hub, setting high standards for safety, transparency, and environmental integrity.
The company is building long‑term, expandable storage infrastructure with continuous monitoring and advanced technologies, ensuring millions of tonnes of CO₂ can be securely stored each year. Beyond storage, EnEarth fosters innovation in DAC/DACS, novel CO₂ transport, digital monitoring, and AI‑driven reservoir modelling.
It empowers hard‑to‑abate industries with cost‑effective decarbonisation pathways, supporting competitiveness under EU climate regulation and strengthening regional cooperation. EnEarth also promotes sustainable communities by creating skilled jobs, revitalising former energy regions, and engaging transparently with local stakeholders.
Ultimately, it helps shape a resilient South European low‑carbon economy built on sustainability, innovation, and climate responsibility.
EnEarth was founded as the dedicated carbon storage and environmental services arm of Energean, leveraging decades of E&P experience to drive decarbonisation in the Mediterranean. The idea was simple but powerful; transform legacy oil & gas infrastructure into a long-term solution for industrial CO₂ emissions.
In June 2026, the Ministry of Development in Greece approved the construction and installation of the jacket for the new Omega platform, which will be used for CO₂ injection into the Prinos reservoir.
