Carbon Capture Global Summit 2025: EnEarth at the Table

, EnEarth was represented at the Carbon Capture Global Summit 2025 (London, September 2025) one of the leading global gatherings focused on carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS). Head of Carbon Storage, Nikolas Rigas, took part in a panel discussion on “Charting the Course for Flagship Carbon Storage: Strategic Moves, Pivotal Sites, and Dynamic Partnerships.”

The panel brought together leaders from across the CCS, including: energy companies, regulators, advisors, and financiers, each with their own perspective on how carbon storage projects can move from concept to reality.

Nikolas used the opportunity to position EnEarth’s approach within the broader CCS landscape. Across Europe and internationally, we see very different models emerging:

  • In the UK, CCS is developing through fully regulated frameworks.

  • In some countries, projects are driven by contracts for difference (CCFDs) or heavy subsidies, with governments covering most early-phase costs.

  • Others, like EnEarth, are pioneering a market-driven model, where subsidies play a smaller supporting role and commercial emitters take the lead in driving demand.

Highlighting that around 30% of EnEarth’s project costs are supported through subsidies, with the remaining balance underpinned by partnerships with emitters who want to decarbonise. This approach, while more exposed to market realities, creates a focus on building a sustainable commercial model that can scale without overdependence on government intervention.

While government involvement is essential, frameworks must be clear, predictable, and easy to execute.

“If we keep reinventing the wheel, we won’t have time to drive the transition forward.” – Nikolas Rigas

The panel shared perspectives, approached challenges, and understood the importance of collaboration.
