Prinos CO₂ at the 8th International Workshop on Geological CO₂ Storage

Prinos CO₂ at the 8th International Workshop on Geological CO₂ Storage

At a landmark conference organized by IEAGHG in Sandsli, Norway, EnEarth was present and had the opportunity to showcase the impressive progress of the Prinos CO₂ storage project.

Specifically, Katerina Sardi, CEO of EnEarth Greece, participated in the 8th International Workshop on Geological CO₂ Storage and presented Prinos CO₂ during a session featuring several of the most significant projects in the European CCS value chain.

Katerina highlighted that Prinos CO₂ is the first project in Southern Europe — and one of only three in the EU — to receive a storage permit, emphasizing its rapid maturation. She also outlined the next steps for the project, including the upcoming market test with interested industrial emitters, the submission of the Environmental Impact Assessment, and the application for the Phase 2 Storage Permit, which will enable the project’s full storage capacity.

Additionally, she referred to the progress of the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study assigned to Kent, as well as the prospect of conducting the first wells under the project during the coming autumn.

“From 2030 onwards, Prinos CO₂ will be in full operation, making a significant contribution to mitigating the impacts of climate change, protecting industrial activity from the high cost of CO₂ emissions, and further supporting the development of local economies.”, Katerina said.

Finally, Katerina Sardi had the chance to visit Northern Lights, the landmark project for the decarbonization of Northern Europe, a project that has several similarities with our flagship Prinos CO2.
