Schools of Kavala Distinguished in the “Followgreen” School Recycling Marathon Awarded by EnEarth

For the fourth consecutive year, and ahead of World Environment Day, which is celebrated internationally on June 5, the Energean Group, through EnEarth, supported as Sponsor the “Followgreen” School Recycling Marathon. This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy for sustainable development and tackling climate change. Eleven Primary and Secondary Education schools that excelled in their recycling efforts were awarded gift vouchers from a well-known retail chain. The schools collected points through source-separated recycling of six material streams (paper, plastic, aluminum, cooking oil, clothing–footwear, and batteries). They were also recognized for their participation in the Recycling Art Activity featured on the municipal Followgreen platform. The schools awarded were: • 20th Kindergarten of Kavala • 17th Kindergarten of Kavala • 1st Special Kindergarten of Kavala • 19th Kindergarten of Kavala • 25th Primary School of Kavala • 19th Primary School of Kavala • 1st Special Primary School of Kavala • 2nd Primary School of Krinides • 1st Vocational Training Center of Kavala • ENEEGYL Kavala • EEEK Kavala At the event, which took place at the Municipal Garden of Kavala, the gift vouchers were presented on behalf of Energean and EnEarth by Ms. Katerina Sardi, CEO and Country Manager for Greece, and Mr. Artemis Barbounis, Director of Corporate Affairs for Greece.

Ms. Sardi stated:

“The Followgreen initiative of the Municipality of Kavala is an excellent example of how environmental awareness can begin within the school community and positively influence society. It is particularly encouraging to see students of all levels actively and consistently participating in recycling and sustainability actions. At Energean, we steadily invest in initiatives that strengthen environmental education and cultivate responsible behavior from a young age. At the same time, through the investment of our subsidiary EnEarth in carbon dioxide storage in Prinos, we contribute substantially to the transition toward a low-carbon economy and to combating the greenhouse effect and the warming of our planet. Actions such as Followgreen and major projects like Prinos CO₂ work complementarily, reinforcing the collective effort to protect the environment and address climate change.” The School Recycling Marathon is implemented in collaboration with the Directorates of Primary and Secondary Education of Kavala. Support for this initiative is part of Energean Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy, which is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals — in particular, Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 13 (Climate Action), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
